If you use your iPhone or iPad like a personal assistant you will probably not only manage your emails, music and contacts on it, but also use the notes app as a kind of aide-mémoire.

Now, if you want to back up your iPhone notes to the PC or transfer them to a new iPhone or iPad, there is no quick solution. You can of course send your notes via email to yourself and copy paste the text again to newly created notes, but this is time-consuming and relatively complicated. The other option is to restore your new iPhone from an iOS backup that you previously saved to the PC or iCloud, but this will also restore all your old settings, apps and probably many other things that you don’t want to transfer to your new iPhone.

This is why I was quite happy to find out about the new feature in CopyTrans Contacts that allows you to easily transfer, edit and export iPhone notes. Continue reading and find out how to manage your iPhone notes with CopyTrans Contacts.

Save iPhone notes to PC

To get started, download CopyTrans Contacts from the following page:

Click on the download button. This will download a zip folder that contains the application. Drag the "CopyTrans Contacts.exe" file to your desktop and start it with a double click.

iPhone notes backup and export

To save a backup of your iPhone notes connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod to the PC. Click on the notes icon in the left-hand side pane and select the notes that you wish to save to your computer. Now click "Export selected", choose the destination folder where you want to save your iPhone notes and click "OK". All your iPhone notes will be backed up as ∗.txt files, that you can read and edit easily.

Import notes to iPhone

To import notes from your PC to an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch connect the device to the PC and click on "Import notes". Navigate to the folder that contains the previously backed up iPhone notes ∗.txt files and select the files that you want to import. Confirm your choice with "OK". That’s it, all your notes have been successfully imported to the new iPhone.

Edit iPhone notes from PC

Another handy function is the possibility to edit iPhone notes from your PC. Connect your iPhone to the computer and select the note that you wish to edit. Use the right mouse click or the pencil above the note to open the edit mode. Once you added, deleted or modified the note don’t forget to click on "Apply" to save the changes to the iPhone.

Add and delete iPhone notes

Last but not least you can also add and delete iPhone notes. Clicking the blue + will add a new note to the iPhone and hitting the red X will delete notes from the iPhone.
