Configuration - Download Options
To get into the Configuration screens, just click the "Configure EphPod" button on the Main Screen or choose "Configuration" in the iPod Tools Menu. Below is a screen shot of the Download Options Configuration and an explanation of the various things you can do on this screen. If you want to see the other options screens, just click on the tabs in the picture.

Feed Prefix - This is the string that will go before each individual feed name in the iPod Contact list. In other words, if you set the prefix to "NEWS: ", and you have a feed called "SlashDot", then that feed will show up as "NEWS: SlashDot" in your contact list. You can leave this field blank.
Selecting Feeds - Just check the box next to each feed that you want to be downloaded.
Enabled Weather Download - Select the city closest to you, and click the "Test" button to make sure that feed is available (sometimes they disappear). Note that you will need to have access to an outgoing port 3000, so if you're behind a company firewall, this may not be possible for you. If you want Download to pull the weather, make sure you've checked the checkbox.
Edit Feeds (Advanced Users Only) - You should know something about RSS/RDF files and/or about running command line Windows programs to use this section. If you don't, then don't worry about this -- it's not that big a deal.
If you do know about those files, then here's how you can edit the feeds. First, click the button to Edit Feeds.
If you know of an RSS or RDF file on the web, just fill out the field, add it, and test it out.
If you want to know where to find a list of RSS and RDF files on the internet, try http://www.newsisfree.com/
If you have a command line program that can return some text file, then put down that filename (and all arguments needed) on the line. EphPod needs your program to write to a particular file, so wherever in your command line arguments you specify the output file, put %f instead, and EphPod will fill that in right before it runs the program.
Then use the Save Feed to add it to the list above.
To remove a feed from the list above, select it, and click the Remove Feed button. Use this with care -- you don't really need to delete any feeds, unless you've added one that absolutely doesn't work.
