Configuration - Synchronization Options

To get into the Configuration screens, just click the "Configure EphPod" button on the Main Screen or choose "Configuration" in the iPod Tools Menu.  Below is a screen shot of the Synchronization Options Configuration and an explanation of the various things you can do on this screen.  If you want to see the other options screens, just click on the tabs in the picture.

To understand all of these feature, it might be helpful to first read about synchronization.

Entering New Folders - to add new folders to your synchronization list, you can either type them into the edit box, or click the "Browse" button to bring up a "Find Folder" selection.  Then click "Add" to add the listed folder to the list.

Selecting Folders in the list - To select a folder, just click on it (no need to hold down shift or control to select multiple folders).  To unselect a folder, click on it again.

Toggle Include Subdirectories of Selected - By default, EphPod will only take the songs and playlists directly in the folders you select, and won't include any files in subdirectories of those folders.  This button will change the status of the selected folders in the list between including subdirectories (denoted by an asterisk) and not including subdirectories (denoted by the absence of an asterisk).  In the example above, you can see that "C:\My Music\toad" will have its subdirectories included, whereas "C:\My Music\imports" will not.  Note that even if this setting is off, if you have the "
Follow Shortcuts" option enabled, shortcuts to directories in your folders will still be included.

Remove Selected - Removes the selected folders from the synchronization list.  This does not delete anything from your hard drive; it just removes them from the list.  You can add them back at any time.

Synchronize PlayLists (M3Us) in Paths - This option, if checked, will add all playlists and songs referred to in those playlists to your iPod on synchronization.  You can use this option creatively, and only sync playlists (this is especially good if you have more music than will fit on your iPod; just rotate playlists in and out of the sync directory).

Delete Songs on iPod not in Sync Directories - This option, if checked, makes the contents of the iPod exactly the same as the contents of the sync folders after synchronization.  If it is not checked, then songs on the iPod that are not listed in any of the sync directories or playlists will be left on the iPod.

Download Before Syncing - This option will run the
Download News feature when syncing, so you can update your news and weather when you synchronize.
