iPod View - Playlists

The two pop-up menus you see in the picture above can be popped-up by right-clicking.  Before we go into the details of what the features in the pop-up menus do, we'll cover two basic playlist tasks:

Making a New Playlist - To make a new playlist, you can hit Ctrl+N, or select "New Playlist" from the
File Menu or the pop-up menu shown above.

Adding Songs to Playlists - To add a song to a playlist, you must first select the songs to be added in the
Song View.  Next, click on the playlist you want to add the songs to in the Playlist Box in the iPod View (the second box, which has "Folk" selected above).  Then, you can either drag and drop them to the Track Box in the iPod View (the third box, which has "I Try - Macy Gray" in it above), or you can right-click in the Song View and choose "Add Selected to Playlist".

Now, onto the features in the pop-up menus:

Add Playlists from File (Ctrl+P) - Clicking on this launches the "Add Playlists" option in the
File Menu.

New Playlist (Ctrl+N) - This launched the "New Playlist" option in the
File Menu.

Delete Selected (Del) - This will delete the selected playlists from the iPod.  It will also prompt you whether or not you'd also like to delete the corresponding songs from the iPod (you can tell it not to).  To select multiple playlists, hold down the control key and click on all the ones you want to select.

Rename Selected Playlist - This will prompt you for a new name for the selected playlist.

Delete All Playlists (Ctrl+D) - This will remove all playlists from the iPod.

Sort By Name - This will put all of the playlists in alphabetical order on the iPod.

Play Playlist - This will play the current playlist in your music player.  (Technical note: it writes a temporary .M3U file and launches the program associated with .M3U files to play it.  The songs are played from the iPod).

Sort Songs by Name - This puts all of the songs in the current playlist in alphabetical order.

Sort Songs by Album and Track Number - This sorts all of the songs in the current playlist first by album, and then by track number in the album.

Delete Selected (Playlists Only) (Del) - This will remove all of the selected songs from the playlist.  It will not delete those songs from the iPod.  It says "Playlists Only" because this menu also pops up with Artists selected in the iPod View, but this option won't work then.
