Synchronize Folders

This feature is for users who a collection of music in a set group of folders, playlists, or both, and where that collection of music is of a smaller size than the capacity of the iPod.  In order to set up Synchronization, you will need to first visit the Synchronization Configuration Menu, by clicking on the "Configure EphPod" button in the main EphPod screen, and then choosing the Synchronization tab.

After you've selected the directories and synchronization options that you want, clicking Synchronize Folders will first scan all of the songs and playlists in the directories you've selected.  If you've told it to delete all songs not in the selected directories, then EphPod will next do that.  Next, EphPod checks the size of all the files it has to copy over against the available space on the iPod.  If there is not enough room, EphPod will tell you, and then abort the copying.  If there is enough room, EphPod will start copying immediately.

A Synchronization Tip for Large Music Collections

If your music collection is larger than the size of your iPod, then a good strategy for Synchronization is to just keep a bunch of playlists in a directory on your hard drive.  Then, tell EphPod to synchronize that particular directory.  If you have too many songs listed in the playlists, EphPod will tell you, and you can prune the playlists until they fit.
